Advanced Treatment Protocols for Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
This advanced, integrative course provides a comprehensive approach to the treatment of concussions, head injuries, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI), with particular emphasis on trauma to the upper cervical spine and cranial structures. Originally developed from the clinical work of the late Paul Hellings and expanded by Dr Melissa Vetter ( Chiropractor ) and Dr Anthony Hilkemeijer ( Osteopath ) , the course combines neurological, nutritional, and functional healing strategies to support optimal recovery.
Core areas of focus include:
Clinical protocols for concussion, head trauma, and traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Treatment of upper neck (cervical) and cranial trauma
Use of targeted nutritional therapy, including B vitamins, and vitamins C, A, and E to support neural and systemic recovery
Diagnosis and correction of microbiome dysfunction and its role in brain inflammation and repair
Regulation of neurogenesis and genetic expression, with emphasis on the vagus nerve as a central healing pathway
Vagus nerve stimulation and modulation for autonomic regulation and enhanced neuroplasticity
Designed for healthcare professionals, this course offers practical tools and evidence-informed protocols for treating brain injuries from a whole-systems perspective—merging clinical neurology, integrative medicine, and cellular healing science.
